Income protection pays you a monthly amount if you can’t work due to illness or injury. It’s designed to replace a portion of your income so you can keep up with everyday expenses, like rent, mortgage, groceries, or school fees, while you recover.
If you’re signed off work by a doctor, your policy kicks in after a waiting period usually 4 to 13 weeks. From there, you’ll receive regular monthly payments for as long as your policy allows, helping you stay financially stable while you get back on your feet.
That depends on your income, expenses, and how long you could manage without a pay check. Most people cover around 50–75% of their income. We’ll help you work out a level that keeps things running without overpaying for more than you need.
No, standard income protection only covers loss of income from illness or injury. Redundancy protection is a separate type of cover that can be added or arranged alongside it.
That’s a good start, but workplace cover often ends when you leave your job and might not be enough to protect your family properly.
We’ll look at what you’ve already got and see if it needs topping up or adjusting to fit your current situation.
Usually, not long at all. We’ll ask a few questions, fill in the forms for you, and liaise with the insurer if they need extra details.
Once approved, your cover can start straight away. We’ll keep you updated the whole way through so there are no surprises.
We’ll walk you through it.
Most of it can be done online, but if you’d rather meet in person, we’re more than happy to make that happen.
Most of the time there are no waiting periods once your policy is in place; however, some benefits do have waiting periods, especially if you want pre-existing conditions to be covered.
